The BEI portable test chamber was designed and built to demonstrate the durability and effectiveness of many construction component installation methods. The chamber is a scaled down model of the BEI Test Chamber Facility located in Edmonds, Washington, where full scale testing, component and product design take place.
This chamber provides very fast turnaround times for multiple product and installation evaluations. It can be transported to job sites, classrooms and lecture halls.
BEI uses the information gathered from these chambers to adjust installation methods, make alterations to windows and doors, evaluate design details and prove product performance.
The chamber is built to exact dimensions and fit to provide "0" extraneous air leakage, pressures to over 60 PSF, 20 IWC (positive or negative) or 200 mph wind speeds. The spray rack is designed to maintain 6 inches rain/hr. Safety and efficiency features have been carefully incorporated to allow ease of operation in a wide variety of testing conditions.
Clear portals provide visual monitoring of specimen during testing and allow for photo documentation. Fittings and hardware have been installed to accept a wide variety of instruments and gauges.
